The Development Officer, under general direction, identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors; serves as development liaison; supports fundraising special projects, development initiatives, and goal setting. Builds relationships to secure major gifts, and /or corporate gifts, grants from corporations, organizations, and individuals.

Successful fundraising experience in the not-for-profit and/or for profit sector with expertise in 3 or more of the following areas:

Major Gifts Cultivation / Stewardship

Prospect Identification Annual Appeal

Event Management Program Administration

Moves Management Corporate Giving

Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 5 years of related experience in individual donor development, and or fund development. Demonstrated success in securing major support and gifts of ($10,000 or more) from individuals, private and or public sources for profit and or non-profit organizations. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge or other fundraising database systems, and MS Office applications, is required. The Development Officer must demonstrate a commitment to professional ethics in working with highly confidential and sensitive information.

The Development Officer must also have knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and appropriate solicitation techniques. Strong interpersonal/human relations are a must, including strong verbal and professional written communication skills, project management experience and marketing and presentation skills.
